OpenComms Using Short Transaction Spatial Persistence Mode

When using OpenComms 2023 in Short Transaction Spatial persistence mode, all graphical feature and network connectivity information is saved to an Oracle Spatial database. A DGN file is used as a repository to hold the features extracted from Oracle Spatial and to manipulate them using Bentley OpenComms software. The following section describes how to start a working session and how to use the Spatial tools to extract from and/or post information to the Oracle Spatial database.

Note: The following section assumes the user has already defined the Project and Workspace configuration for OpenComms.

After double-clicking the OpenComms icon to start the program, the following dialog will be shown:

This dialog gives the user the option of opening a recent file, browsing to a new file location, or creating a new file. Click on the appropriate option and open a file in OpenComms. Click on the 'Home' tab and the screen should look like this:
